Baby Kicks!

I've felt the baby kick for some time now.  First I wasn't quite sure on what I was feeling.  Then they became stronger.  It is a totally amazing feeling.  Now I know why women love being pregnant.  Prior to the kicks I had no idea other than the miracle you receive at the end.  The last week or two the kicks have became very stronger and I have been so happy.  But today was another mile marker for me.  Paul felt the baby kick for the first time!!!!  This morning before we got up and got ready for church the baby was moving around.  Paul had wrapped his arm around my belly.  I told him the baby was moving.  He placed his hand where the baby was and he finally felt him!! It brought so much joy to my heart having him being able to feel our little miracle move.  There was joy, laughter, kisses, and some tears on my part.  Definitely my happiest day of pregnancy so far.

Sneaky Peak at the Nursery

With the help of Grandma Mary we are going to have a John Deere themed room for the little one.  Grandma Mary is doing what she does best and is sewing together all the crib bedding for the little man.  Meanwhile we all going to look for all sort of JD memorobilia.  It definetly will be a room the boy can grow into.  We have got lots to do before he graces us with his presence, but it's a good start : )

22 weeks and Moody

I'm 22 weeks now and going through those "so called" mood swings (mainly just before bed).  I sure hope I can get them under control or my nickname will become Grumpy.  On a brighter note, our baby boy has been kicking me.  I've been trying to get Paul to be able to feel the kicks but every time the baby stops (We might have a little stinker on our hands).  Baby seems to be pretty low and by where he's kicking me I think he is breech.  He was at 19 weeks at the ultrasound but our little guy can move so much before March, I'm not worried about it.  I joined the gym last week, so I can attempt to keep in shape while being pregnant.  Gaining this weight is all apart of pregnant and totally worth, but it still doesn't mean it's not a little scary.  Nice thing about the gym there is about 5 or so other pregnant women there.  Maybe I'll get the chance to have some girlfriends that live a little closer to me, so we can chat and our babies can play! Oh that would be just wonderful.

We have a weiner!

Today we went in to the doctors for our baby's ultrasound.  The doctor asked us what we thought we were having.  Paul replied, "Well, we both wanted a boy.  We think it's a girl."  Dr. Don said, "Well, you both get what you want!"  There was a pause, then we realized that he had just told us we were having a boy! Paul and I are soo excited!  John Deere tractors, mini chainsaws, little tool boxes, having a boy is going to be so much fun.

Heartbeat!!!

Today I heard the baby's heartbeat. It finally became real to me. There is actually a baby in there. Everything sounds great. 160 beats per minute for our little one. I can't wait to actually know what it is. October 22nd we will have an ultrasound hopefully be determining what we are having. This will be our first appointment that Paul and I will be together. I'm so excited! I'm going to be praying for the legs to be wide open. I can't wait to decorate the baby's room!

9 Week Ultrasound

At this stage the baby is giving a bit of nausea and mood swings galore, but not much morning sickness. The baby also makes me belch like Homer Simpson. Paul is growing more and more attracted to me everyday! We thought I was ten weeks along however I'm measuring up to be 9 weeks. I can't wait to find out what we are going to have. When we looked at the ultrasound it looked like a little jelly bean to me and to Paul it looked like a blob. But Grandpa Shaun said, "Yep, it's a Kennedy alright. It even has a halo (the yolk)!" You got to love him.

New Daddy and Mommy!

On Monday, July 20th at 5:30 AM, I asked Paul if I could take the pregnancy test. He said go take it wanting to sleep a bit more. I did my thing then covered the test up so that we could look at it together. A few minutes after six I asked "Can we look at it now?" as anxious as can be. His reply, "Kate, your getting a little crazy." I slithered out of bed and went and got the test. I brought it to the bedroom. Got all nice and cozy next to Paul and took the tissue of the test. Two pink lines stared at us while we stared and smiled as each other. "I'm going to be a mommy!" Paul was ecstatic as was I. Now we had to go off to work with our BIG SECRET! Some people are better at keeping secrets than others! Just kidding, but seriously Paul had so much going on in his brain he had to release to his boss, Mel. Paul was defiantly in more of a shock than I. I thought I was pregnant because it seemed different this time, but in Paul's defense I always think I'm pregnant. When he told Mel, Mel replied "We are going to have a little Paul or Paulette running around here." At that moment Paul had just realized it could be a girl too! But given our families overwhelming amount of males we think we are going to have a boy. None the less we just want a healthy baby.

As for the parents Shaun and Mary were excited. I had present for them because we didn't spend mothers and fathers day with them. On Thursday, mom opened her frame with a picture of Paul holding my belly and a bump ahead sign. "I get it, I get it." mom said. Dad opened his gift and of course a book for him, "Grandpa Rules." "Okay, okay....(looked up at me) Really?" We shook our heads yes. Congratulations came and we left to go tell Dave and Deb. It was the day before Deb's birthday and Dave's birthday was on the 4th so we didn't see him either. We had two gifts for the each of them. First the birthday presents...then the grandparent presents. Deb opened her bracelet box to find a pregnancy test inside with a note. Thinking it was a joke because she was turning 45 she opened the note saying, "Happy Birthday Grandma!" She Grabbed the table, jaw dropped, wide open eyes "Ahhhh... Oh my God! Your pregnant!" Poor Dave didn't even get to finish looking at his gift before he knew what was going on. We bought Dave a shirt saying "ONE BAD Grand DAD." It was perfect. Dave congratulated Paul in private. Both are ready to become First time grandparents! Now we still had to tell Kevin and Kelly! Saturday we went on over with his fathers day gift. (I know we were a bit last on the fathers day stuff, but I had a baby shower that day, so things didn't really work out, but in a way they did!) Kevin open up a picture frame that said, " Grandchildren are the link to the future. Grandparents are the link to the past." Kevin in a pause, Kelly went to look over his shoulder and said, "Kev, I think their trying to tell us something." Both looked as us and we said yes. Both loved the frame and the little onezie cookies I had made by the lady that made our wedding cake. It was a great end to a perfect week!
